To Market We Go | 4 Tips To Boost Holiday Sales
Here We Are
Whether 2020 has been a blessing or a curse for your small business, one thing we can’t deny, the holidays are here. Based upon the traffic I’m seeing when I’m out and about, people are in the mood to spend some dough. I want to share some tips with you to make things as easy as possible for your customers to shop with you.
GMB
Make sure your Google My Business listing is up to date! Pay attention to the emails that come from them asking you to update your Business Profile. And while you are at it, check all the other listings you are on to ensure your profiles are up to date: Yelp, Bing, Apple Maps, and all your social media accounts. Also, respond to any reviews, even if they are negative, so that customers can see you are attentive to their needs.
Mark if your business is open, temporarily closed, or permanently closed.
Let customers know when you are open for business.
Let your customers know what health and safety measures your business is taking.
Email Newsletter
All the big box stores are jamming your inbox with their Black Friday and holiday deals. Get in on that action! If you have an email list, which you most definitely should, start sending blasts highlighting the deals you are offering. If you don’t do email, we better talk ASAP, as they do work! I personally check my inbox more times a day than I’d like to admit and I make it a point to open ALL the ones that come from small businesses I subscribe to.
Make People Feel Safe
Use your social media platforms to not only showcase your products and services, but use them as a way to visualize what shopping with you looks like these days to make your customers feel comfortable. We all have witnessed the broad range of people’s comfort level in dealing with COVID-19. Here’s some content ideas you can easily post to put their minds at ease:
what BOPUS (buy online, pick up in store) and curbside pick up looks like at your store
what health and safety precautions you have adopted in your space
ease of shopping from your e-commerce site
delivery and shipping options
Advertise
If you have a budget, it doesn’t have to be big, spend some green on social ads. Use Facebook Ad Manager (which gives you several options for Instagram ad space too) and select a highly targeted audience and entice them with a special deal or offer of free shipping.
