To Market We Go | Can Customers Find You?

Village Runner - Redondo Beach on Apple Maps

I Thought You Were Closed

Those words strike fear in the hearts of any business owner, especially now! Recently the Village Runner store in the Riviera Village moved from one spot to a new location about a block away. A customer came to the new locale and showed an employee on Apple Maps why she thought they were closed. She had pulled up the store on her phone and the former location showed up and was marked permanently closed. No bueno. Fortunately, there is signage at the old place listing the new address which helps take care of walking traffic. And, the two current locations for their stores are correctly listed within Apple Maps.

Worth Noting

This is a valuable lesson for all of us. I’ve written about the importance of having your NAP listing up-to- date, read here for a refresher and add Apple Maps to the list of directories. One, people are using Apple Maps as one of the main ways to find you, so it would behoove you to get your phone right now and make sure your info is correctly listed. Two, if it isn’t correct, there’s an easy fix. You can visit Apple Maps Connect and add or update your business information so everything is up to snuff. You will need an Apple ID to do this and if you don’t have one, you can create one free of cost. Click the button below to get moving.

Helpful Tips

There is a very straightforward help section should you need it, although the process is fairly simple. In order to edit business info you must be the owner, manager or authorized by the business to do so. Not all businesses are eligible. You have to be a brick and mortar so that Apple can confirm a physical space and there are other restrictions where you may not get approved, ex: your biz operates out of your home. Edits typically take a week, but my experience has been within a couple days. They are very good about communicating with you via email when they have published the edits. In order to verify who you are they will call the business phone number and give a PIN code, so make sure you are ready to do that or you can provide an email that matches your business website, ex: www.taylordigitalmarketing.com and molly@taylordigitalmarketing.com.

If you have Apple Pay set up, you can order free Apple Pay glass and register decals that get sent within a couple days of placing the order.
